Doctor’s Appointment Dread

Doctor's appointment

No one actually likes going to a regularly scheduled doctor’s appointment. Or a dentist appointment. I mean seriously. They are time taken out of our busy day to either find out what is wrong with us or what could be wrong with us. Maintenance we don’t want to admit we need.

Work provided a wonderful excuse to skip those regularly scheduled doctor’s appointments. The maintenance appointments like the annual physical, 6-month teeth cleaning, or, depending on your age, some of the less enjoyable maintenance appointments.

Whatever it’s for, that doctor’s appointment is important. I know sometimes it seems like they are just a way for doctor’s to make money. But they matter. They can be preventative, helping to stop something bad from happening. Like the dentist. In addition to gum disease, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and breast cancer are all related to oral health. But they can also – and I know this is scary – be the instrument to catch something bad early, before it becomes serious or even life threatening.

Remember, your true purpose in life is to be there for the people in your life. Your family. Your friends. The only way you can successfully be there for them, to have those moments with them, to create those memories is if you are healthy. So do yourself a favor. Do your family and friends a favor. Now that you have the time, make – and keep – your doctors’ appointments.

Great reminder. I’m making the medical appointment I’ve been putting off for months today.
