No matter where you were, this summer was HOT. Stiflingly hot. Our ability to get outside was next to impossible as the heat seemed to suffocate us. But there has been a shift, a change in the air. Even if where you are is still hot. There are hints of fall in the air. And with those hints come the possibility to get outside again. To do those things that make you happiest.
In so many parts of the county, the weather was so hot that even the simplest of outdoor activities were not possible. Pools felt more like bathtubs. Boat rides were sweltering if there wasn’t more than a simple breeze. Gardening? Even if you could stand the heat, plants were just burning up. And taking your sweet dog for a walk? The chances of paws burning was just too high.
The great outdoors has all kinds of benefits, for our body, mind and spirit. But this summer’s heat made getting outside to enjoy the benefits was nearly impossible. And chances are, your mind and body are feeling the affects of not being outdoors. We missed out on the calming, relaxing affects of being out in nature. And we certainly weren’t soaking up that all important Vitamin D!
But now, even if it is faint, there is a cooling to the air. An ability to get outside for more than 5 minutes without turning into a puddle. Even though it may not seem like it, in some parts of the country it will soon get cold… and then frigidly cold. So take advantage of this beautiful time of year. Get outside and enjoy the great outdoors during one of the most beautiful times of the year!
