There is a saying along the lines of, “Into every life, a little rain must fall.” The problem with this saying is that it is negative. There is so much good that comes from rain. Rebirth. Renewal. Not just for the earth, the plants and animals. Rainy days can be a time for rebirth and renewal for us, too.
Growing up, the weather wasn’t always perfect. We made the most out of the beautiful days because they were often far and few between. The rainy days were the norm. And we had plenty of time to rest and re-energize. But they are not the norm any longer. Now the rainy days are those that are few and far between.
Still, I always feel the need to make the most out of those sunny, perfect days. If I don’t do something outside, I feel like I’ve wasted the beautiful weather. What this doesn’t give time for is that relaxation and re-energizing we all need.
We deserve – you deserve – a day to do nothing. To let your brain settle. To let your body relax and rejuvenate. A day when you do nothing but let your mind and body completely relax.
This is not a day spent making sure you check off everything on your to do list. Instead, it is a day to do what you want to do. What makes you happy. What you need to do for yourself. This is your day.
Take advantage of those rainy days. And if you don’t have many, create one, no matter how beautiful it is outside. We all deserve to have our down days. The days that are just for us and our own well-being.
