Spring Cleaning: The Nasty Projects You Just Need to Do

,
Spring Cleaning

Maybe we try to fool ourselves into thinking we only need to do those nasty projects that always exist in our lives once a year by calling them spring cleaning. The reality is, they exist in every season, and all the time. And they don’t always take the form of cleaning.

Think about it. You would never change your sheets just once a year. Nor would you ever clean your toilet just once a year. I mean, I guess you could. But imagine the nastiness and how much longer it will take. And okay, so maybe those examples are extreme. But there are things that need to be done – or should be done – a few times a year. And some that really truly only need to be done once a year, but still need to be done.

These types of projects usually take more than an hour or so to complete. And the last thing you wanted to do when you were working was use any more of your hard-earned weekend to take care of the necessary projects. But now you have the time. Now you can do what you need to do without taking time away from your family and friends.

Spring cleaning comes in all shapes and sizes. Think about all the singular things that need doing around your home. Cleaning out closets to get rid of things you haven’t worn in years. Organizing cupboards and pantries so you can actually find what you need. Weeding the garden so that it prospers. Fixing the sprinkler system. Prepping the yard and house for a change in season. Cleaning out the garage or a storage unit.

And there are so many benefits to your spring cleaning projects. The obvious is the peace of mind and sense of accomplishment completing them gives. But many of them are hard work. Remember, easy exercise is all around us.

Projects always exist. What will you tackle first?
