Sure. Those rainy days and lazy days can help your mind rest, relax, and re-energize. But they are really just stopgaps. Moments when we do what we need to do to keep ourselves moving. When we were working, we needed more than just a day here or a day there to keep moving. We needed a vacation.
It might not seem like we still need a vacation like we did when we were working, but that’s just not true. Even though you are not working, you’re mind is still going through a lot, processing a lot. You may be stressed that you haven’t yet found a job. And there is still stress that is that comes with every day life.
It is important that you still take a vacation – even though you might feel like you don’t deserve it. To take the time to rest, relax, and re-energize. Take the time to do what you enjoy in a setting that is outside your regular life. Where you can leave the stress and worries of life behind. Of course they will all still be there when you return. But when you return, you will have the advantage of looking at and dealing with those problems with a fresh set of eyes.
A vacation is also a time to reconnect with family and friends. It’s an opportunity – if you want – to discover someplace new. To try something new. Or it may be a time to just do nothing. You can travel to far off places, or you can rent a room at your favorite local hotel and take a staycation. You can travel with family or friends, or by yourself. Go to see and reconnect with family or friends, or just keep to yourself.
This is your time to do what you want with the people you want to spend time with. There is no right or wrong answer to what your vacation looks like.
That being said, today is the beginning of mine. I am off with one of my favorite people – my daughter – today to go to my favorite place and see family and friends I love but don’t have the opportunity to see very often. When are you taking your vacation?
