When you’re working, the weekend seems to blend into the rest of the week. It’s a time to catch up on all you need to get done, but can’t while at work. A time to do the household chores that inevitably pile up because they can’t be done after work. The only time you have to do them is on the weekend, when your time frees up.
The weekend should be a time to relax, and regroup, a time to prepare for the week ahead. Instead of spending time with the people we love, though, doing what we enjoy, we tackle the job of keeping our non-work lives in order. We go to the dry cleaner, the grocery store. Clean the house. We make sure our kids our ready for school or whatever activity they participate in. What we don’t do is take time for ourselves. On Saturdays we do the errands that can only be done then because most places are closed on Sundays. That leaves Sunday, the day for all the household chores. Where is the time to rest, relax, and regroup?
Now that your week are freer, those chores that had to be done on the weekend can be done during the week. And, doing all these chores during the week – and using our to do list – reminds us of all that we really do. Best of all, you’re now free to enjoy your weekends with the people you love and doing what you love. Take advantage of this time. You’ve worked hard and still do work hard, just in a different way. You deserve this time and the people in your life will love spending this time with you.
